Just inside the 3 furlong marker, Mayflower Lady (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed across the heels of Simply Susan (IRE), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Following the race, Charles Bishop reported that Simply Susan (IRE), which started second favourite and finished second, was slowly away and ran greenly.

David Probert reported that Mayflower Lady (IRE), unplaced, hung left and right-handed and Ronald Harris reported that the filly was unsuited by the ground, which was officially described as Firm on this occasion, and would prefer a slower surface; the Veterinary Officer further reported that Mayflower Lady (IRE) lost its right hind shoe.
