An enquiry was held into the running and riding of From The Heart (IRE), placed second, ridden by Micheal Nolan and Land League (IRE), placed third, ridden by Ciaran Gethings, who both raced detached from the winner, which was well clear from the whole field, then asked their mounts for an effort down the back straight and rounding the final bend.
The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The riders stated that they were instructed to sit prominently, however, the winner, Master Vintage (GB), was going plenty quick enough and they thought that the gelding would come back to them.
They further added that if they had asked their mounts for an effort sooner, they did not believe they would have got home.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, Jonathan Burke reported that Blue N Yellow (IRE), placed sixth, was never travelling and Niall Houlihan reported that Witches Glen (IRE), placed eighth, stopped quickly.
