Permission was given for The Bay Warrior (IRE) to go early to post.
Ed Dunlop was cautioned as Lenny's Spirit (FR) had arrived in the Parade Ring without its declared visor which was then located and fitted to the gelding before going to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately 1½ furlongs out when Awtaad Prince (IRE), placed second, ridden by Mr Damiano Poggi, interfered with Stormingin (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Mr Andoni Lezama, which in turn interfered with Silver Nightfall (GB), placed third, ridden by Mr Simon Walker.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Awtaad Prince (IRE)’s placing as the gelding had drifted left-handed under a right-hand drive, carrying Stormingin (IRE) off its intended line which in turn caused Silver Nightfall (GB) to be tightened for room on the rail for a sustained period when appearing to still be travelling strongly at the time of the incident, before the filly ran on strongly inside the final furlong to finish third by a diminishing neck.
The Stewards therefore ordered the placings be revised as follows: First – Speriamo (GB); Second – Silver Nightfall (GB); Third - Awtaad Prince (IRE); Fourth – Platinum Prince (GB); Fifth - Stormingin (IRE).
Mr Poggi was suspended for 2 days, on dates to be notified to him by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority, for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to shift left- handed without timely correction, causing Stormingin (IRE) to be carried onto Silver Nightfall (GB) which was hampered as a result.
