he's (Shannon Soul) just slow out of the gates all the time and the smaller fields suit him. He gets every yard of it (seven furlong trip) well and they went a good gallop, which helped, and Shane gave him a good ride. It's nice to get another one with him and there wasn't anything for him over a mile and that race looked like a nice race for him. He's real genuine, tries hard and the blinkers just help him concentrate. We seem to have the key to him now and he's going the right way. I think ground is important to him and a level track. It's nice to have that done with him now and we'll sort of pick our way along with him. M Halford, trainer

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Split The Atom, ridden by W.M. Lordan, and Ducky Mallon, ridden by Michelle Hamilton, where it appeared Ducky Mallon suffered some interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the interference was accidental and took no further action, other than to advise Michelle Hamilton of her responsibilities to report in full, anything that may have affected the performance of her charge under the provisions of Rule 213. Michelle Hamilton, rider of Ducky Mallon trained by Donal Kinsella, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount hung and became unbalanced in the straight having blown up.

Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 10lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won.
