Robert Dunne, the rider of Paddy A (IRE), had appeared to complete the course with the other runners, having pulled up.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the race, Dunne’s explanation that the gelding had taken a firm hold in the early stages before jinking right-handed on the approach to the third hurdle and running out, a fact that he had reported at Scales, and Paddy A (IRE) had then continued to pull hard despite his best efforts to restrain the gelding, was accepted.
Following the race, Robert Dunne reported that Paddy A (IRE) jinked right-handed on the approach to the third hurdle and ran out.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Rahmah (IRE), placed fourth, finished lame on its right hind.
