Ian gave her a lovely ride and was confident on her with a lap to go. He had her exactly where he wanted her, she travelled everywhere and battled well up the straight so is learning her game all the time. We might have to put her away now due to drying ground as she is a real national hunt type - I won't be taking any chances with her.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.G. Gilligan, rider of Old Chap, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found J. G. Gilligan in breach of R.10.3(b) in that he used his whip when out of contention and having considered his record in this regard they cautioned him on this occasion
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that Old Chap trained by Paul John Gilligan was lame on his right hind post race.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-116
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
