The winner, Valirann Gold (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Warwick on 31st December 2022 where the gelding finished sixth, beaten 38 lengths on ground officially described as Soft, Good to Soft in places.
Harriet Brown’s representative’s explanation that the gelding was suited by a change of tactics to being ridden prominently on this occasion was noted.
Valirann Gold (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Gavin Sheehan reported that Clondaw Bertie (IRE), which was pulled up, lost its confidence after a jumping error at the first fence.
