Permission was given for Miss Mulligan (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
Leaving the stalls, Night Moment (GER), placed third, jumped sharply left carrying all of the following runners off their intended lines: Mafia Power (GB), placed second; the winner, Praiano (GER) and Night Bear (GB), placed sixth.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any horse.
Approximately 3 furlongs out, Miss Mulligan (IRE), placed fifth, was denied a clear run and forced to be steadied when attempting to go through a gap between a weakening Night Bear (GB), placed sixth, and Atalanta Breeze (GB), placed fourth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Ray Dawson reported that Night Bear (GB), placed sixth, was never travelling.
