The Stewards enquired into two incidents in the closing stages, the first involving Kiss The Stars, ridden by R.P. Cleary, unplaced and Strategic Heights, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed fourth, where it appeared Kiss The Stars met with interference and the second incident involving, Shipyard (USA), ridden by G. F. Carroll, placed second, Masai, ridden by J. P. O'Brien, placed fifth and Kiss The Stars who appeared to run short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that both incidents were accidental in nature and took no further action. Mr David McCorkell, trainee Acting Steward, was present for this enquiry. C. O'Donoghue, rider of He's No Saint (GB) trained by David Marnane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly left handed.

Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 12lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 100 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 100 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 100 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap.
