The Starter reported that Sam Coltherd, the rider of MAID O’MALLEY, had failed to approach the starting tape at a walk or a jig-jog.
The rider and the Starter were interviewed, and recordings of the incident were shown.
Coltherd’s explanation was accepted that in squeezing his mount forward to keep up with the runners on the outside, MAID O’MALLEY had broken into a canter and he restrained the mare as quickly as he could.
The performance of Paddy The Horse (IRE), which was pulled up, was considered.
Jonathan Bewley reported that the gelding hung left throughout and lost its action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination, during routine testing of Paddy The Horse (IRE), failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Emma Smith-Chaston reported that she pulled up Contre Ordre (FR) after her saddle slipped.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Dawn Raider (IRE), unplaced, bled from the nose.
