The Stewards requested a report from John Joseph Hanlon, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Woodbrook Boy, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Killarney on the seventh of July. Ms. Rachael O'Neill, authorised representative for the trainer stated that the ground had softened too much during the course of racing on the horses previous run and that the better ground today coupled with the reapplication of cheek pieces had helped to bring about the improvement in form when compared to it's most recent run where it was reported that the horse had never travelled and was pulled up. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given

An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards rated 0-109
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st and the minimum weight is 9st 12lbs
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each steeplechase won.
