The winner, IT'S ALL A JOKE (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 8 December 2018 where the gelding finished tenth of twelve, beaten by 12 lengths. Archie Watson's explanation that the gelding appeared to appreciate the drop down in trip from 6f to Sf on this occasion was noted. IT'S ALL A JOKE (IRE) was routine tested.
Prior to this race, Phil McEntee was asked to explain the reason why he was running BERNIE'S BOY (IRE) here at Lingfield over 5f, when the rider reported that the gelding was outpaced in the early stages over 6f at Lingfield on 20 November 2018. McEntee explained that he was surprised that the gelding was outpaced, but as the gelding has won over 5f at Lingfield previously, he was happy for BERNIE'S BOY (IRE) to take its chances today in a race which he felt did not have many confirmed front runners in it. The Stewards noted his explanation.
Jason Watson reported that BECKER, placed second, hung right-handed.
