An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final half furlong when the winner, Sir Hector (IRE), ridden by William Carson interfered with Everkyllachy (IRE), placed second, ridden by Ben Curtis, which in turn interfered with Chocco Star (IRE), placed third, ridden by Joey Haynes.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Sir Hector (IRE)’s placing in that Sir Hector (IRE) drifted right intimidating Everkyllachy (IRE), which was carried wide off its intended line for some distance before staying on to be beaten by a diminishing short head.
The placings were revised as follows: First – Everkyllachy (IRE), Second – Sir Hector (IRE) and Third - Chocco Star (IRE).
Carson was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right without correction causing Everkyllachy (IRE) to be taken off its intended line, which in turn caused Chocco Star (IRE) to have to be checked off heels.
Following the race, Joey Haynes reported that Chocco Star (IRE), placed third, was slowly away and the Veterinary Officer reported that Oh So Nice (GB), placed seventh, lost its right fore shoe.
