Mr B. O'Neill, rider of Glorious Galway trained by D.McNamara, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly and was pulled up thereafter

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. W. Flemming, that Mr D.P. Murphy, declared rider of Sandycove Island, trained by Ruaidhri Joseph Tierney, had weighed out at 2 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that this was the case and stated that he had informed the trainer prior to declaration time that he should declare a possible 2 lbs overweight. He said he was aware yesterday that he had a little weight to loose and had tried unsuccessfully to loose weight and felt that he would present himself at scales at 1 Ibs overweight. At this point the Stewards refused him permission to ride and allowed Mr. D. Allen to replace the rider. Arising from the evidence given by Mr. Murphy, it was decided to interview Finbarr Tierney, representing Ruaidhri Joseph Tierney to verify the evidence given. Mr. Tierney gave his evidence to the Stewards in the absence of Mr. Murphy who failed to present himself at this stage of the enquiry having been instructed to do so. Subsequently, the Stewards referred the matter to the referrals committee. Mr. James Kennedy. Acting Steward did not attend this enquiry.

A steeplechase for Certified Hunters, five yrs old and upwards, that have not won more than one Steeplechase confined to Certified Hunters and that have been placed first, second, third or fourth in a steeplechase confined to Certified Hunters or in a Point To Point Steeplechase in Ireland between 5th October, 2014 and 10th April, 2018
Weights - 5-y-o 11st 3lb; 6-y-o and up 11st 7lb; Mares allowed 7lb
Penalties - (to count from 1st January, 2016) Winner of a steeplechase 7lb extra; Horses that have won a *race other than (a) Farmers Races or (b) Certified Hunters Steeplechases.
Riders - Qualified under I.N.H.S. Rules.
