An enquiry was held into the running and riding of She's A Unicorn (GB), ridden by Poppy Fielding and trained by Tom Dascombe, which having been slow into stride was ridden tenderly in rear and well adrift of the field, before finishing seventh, beaten by 16¾ lengths.

The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated her instructions were to jump She's A Unicorn (GB) out, get a lead and allow the filly to travel.

She added that She's A Unicorn (GB) was slowly into stride and felt green so she concentrated on getting the filly balanced before asking for an effort from 3 furlongs out and felt that she had achieved the best possible placing as She's A Unicorn (GB) had only run on past two tired horses.

The trainer confirmed the instructions given but considered that Fielding had given the other runners too big a lead and could have asked for an effort sooner.

He added that even though She's A Unicorn (GB) has proved to be a big, backward filly and lazy in her work at home and both horse and rider are inexperienced, he had bought She's A Unicorn (GB) with the intention of giving his apprentice the ride and the plan was to continue to do so again.

Fielding was suspended for 7 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures in that she had failed to ask She's A Unicorn (GB) for timely, real and substantial effort.
