I was quietly fancying him. He just had so many goes but without the blinds he was running on and off the bridle,. He loves it there in front. He came up for me at the last and when Davy Russell (on Zanjabeel) is breathing down your neck it's fairly scary. You either go long or you give up. I thought I was nearly nicked on the line but it's brilliant. The lads have been patient and John Mahon is a great owner. He's a Longford man who is based in New York. Possibly he'll go for the handicap hurdle on the Monday night at Galway, although I have three or four for it now. It's great he's got his head in front as he deserved it. The Stewards interviewed D.G. Hogan, rider of Mezajy, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D.G. Hogan was in breach of regulations 10.3 (f) and 10.4. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended D.G. Hogan for 3 racedays.
