Leigh Roche landed a double at Sligo highlighted by the success of Edelpour in the Follow Sligo Races On Facebook Race.
Dermot Weld's three-year-old, running in the colours of the Aga Khan, was sent off the 8-13 favourite having won a maiden at Gowran on his previous start, and the jockey was content to sit in last place of the four runners for most of the way.< Harold Peto took them along and kept on well in the straight, but Edelpour proved just the stronger, wearing him down in the end to win by a workmanlike length and a quarter.
Roche had earlier scored on another recent Gowran winner, the Dot Love-trained Not A Bad Oul Day (11-4 favourite), who rallied bravely to take the www.countysligoraces.com Handicap by a neck after looking sure to be swallowed up by No Way Jack
Declan McDonogh was another jockey to land a double, winning the last two races for the John Oxx stable.< Qatea (9-2) took charge on the turn into the straight and stretched clear to take the Guinness Handicap by four and three-quarter lengths, then Xebec (5-2) led the way in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden and held off the finishers by a length and a quarter.
Robbie Burke is back in Ireland after riding all over the world and he got off the mark when Ceylon (6-1) led going to the final furlong and outstayed the opposition to take the Kennedy's Bar Sligo Handicap by four and three-quarter lengths for Patrick Prendergast.
Kevin Prendergast's Natural Woman was sent off evens favourite for the Join The 2015 Sligo Race Supporters Club Fillies Median Auction Maiden after two seconds and swept ahead on the home turn to collect by an easy two and a half lengths under Chris Hayes.
Timothy Doyle's mare Vasoni (9-4 favourite) won at the track for the third time when she collared the leaders inside the final furlong to take the Sligo GAA Race Day August 18th Handicap by a length and three-quarters after a patient ride from Tom Madden.
