Barry Geraghty landed his first winner in the green and gold silks of JP McManus since being announced as the owner's retained rider when Riviera Sun made all to land the Roscommon Rated Novice Hurdle.
The Henry De Bromhead-trained 11-8 favourite looked in a spot of trouble with all three rivals queueing up behind him at the second last, but he ran on strongest to beat Ibsen by a length and a half.< Adimelo produced a brave effort from the front to land the Athleague Maiden Hurdle for trainer Alan Fleming, who bagged a double for himself and owner Barry Connell on the card.
The 8-1 chance looked to have been caught in a duel with Cassels as the pair pulled clear only to be reeled in before the turn for home.
Adimelo responded to John Fitzpatrick's urgings, though, and had enough in the tank to fend off Little Haarth by a length and three-quarters.
Fleming and Connell's double came when Deputy's Pass ended a run of three second-placed finishes with victory in the Martinstown Opportunity Maiden Hurdle.
The 6-4 favourite was always in command close home under David Mullins, beating Cecil Corbett by two lengths.
Mullins bagged a double of his own when Annie Alainn (6-1) toughed it out best in the Athlone Handicap Hurdle, coming home a length and a half in front of He Is Top Class
Connell's Ballychorus produced a never-say-die effort in an attempt to give Connell a treble in the Lee Dolan Memorial Handicap Hurdle, but the Mags Mullins-trained mare could not get on terms with Steel King
Paul Flynn's 5-1 chance was in the lead on the turn for home and showed plenty of determination to score for Kevin Sexton, coming home a length and three-quarters in front.
Willie Mullins and Patrick Mullins landed the roscommonracecourse.ie Flat Race with Westerner Lady (7-1) after she ran on well to beat Ballybrowneybridge
