< Avenue Gabriel has been tackling Group One company this season and the drop down to Listed level did the trick as she took the feature Clodovil EBF Garnet Stakes at Naas.
Fourth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas in May, the Paul Deegan-trained filly was delivered with a challenge down the centre of the track by Chris Hayes as the main action took place on the inside.
The 5-1 chance became involved in a sharp tussle with recent Curragh maiden winner Fastnet Mist through the final furlong, but asserted close home and passed the post with three-quarters of a length to spare.
John Joe Murphy's juvenile Captain My Captain finished a close-up fifth from a bad draw in a sales race at the Curragh last month and started 13-2 favourite for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Birdcatcher Premier Nursery.
Shane Foley had him settled behind the pacesetters two furlongs out and once he quickened into the lead the race was over as he cleared away to beat Cleveland Street by three and a half lengths.
There was a good prize on offer for the Woodlands 100 Club October Handicap and it went to the Bill Farrell-trained 20-1 shot Rocky Bleier who had plenty to do a quarter of a mile out but put in a withering run under Billy Lee to score by a length and a half.
The Tifrums EBF (C & G) Maiden looked open to a smart newcomer and it found one in the Ger Lyons-trained Endless Drama (6-1), who scooted clear from a furlong and a half down to win by five and a half lengths under Colin Keane.
Eddie Lynam's youngster Byzantium was sent off the 9-10 favourite for the Bungle Inthejungle EBF Fillies Maiden after her third in a Listed event on her debut, but she had to pull out the stops to beat Sharaasa by a short head in the hands of Pat Smullen.
Noel Meade's 6-4 favourite Harvey Logan took full advantage of his light weight in the Profile Systems Kommerling Handicap Hurdle, overhauling long-time leader Pencilhimin on the run-in and scoring by half a length from Elishpour under Niall Madden.
