Review curragh 10th Oct

Veteran handler Kevin Prendergast looks to have another smart prospect to go to war with next summer after Aneen opened her account with an imposing display at the Curragh.

A half-sister to the stable's 2000 Guineas hero Awtaad, Aneen was sent off the 5-2 market leader for the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden on the back of an encouraging debut at Leopardstown last month and duly delivered on that promise with a comfortable victory.

Smartly away from her wide draw, the daughter off Lawman quickened up nicely when given the office by Chris Hayes and powered clear in the closing stages for a four and a quarter length success.< Texas Rock (5-1 fav) is forming quite the love affair with the Curragh and made it two wins on the bounce when landing the Go Racing In Kildare 2017 Membership Handicap.

Winning rider Billy Lee cut a confident figure for much of the 7f contest and although joined by Chestnut Fire inside the final furlong, Texas Rock was always getting the better of the argument and got the job done by three quarters of a length.< Grandee came good at the third time of asking when getting up to claim first prize in the Irish Stallions Farms EBF Maiden.

Waited with in the early exchanges, the 6-1 scorer came late and wide to defeat Dubai Sand by a length and a quarter.

There was strong market support for debutant Flaming Sea prior to the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden but she couldn't quite master Wild As The Wind (12-1) who stuck on really well to win by a length and a quarter.

Donnacha O'Brien delivered Jaqen H'ghar (7-2 fav) with a perfectly-timed challenge to land the spoils in the Guy and Anne - 50 Years Wed Today Handicap.

O'Brien was keen to play his hand as late as possible and was duly rewarded as his mount flew home to score by a length and a quarter.
