Young Lochinvar Wins for In-Form Carr
Young Lochinvar a 10,000 guineas buy at Tattersalls by John Carr in October 2007, won his first race for his current connections when taking the Tote Placepot Races 1 To 6 Handicap under Colm O'Donoghue.
Sporting the Tom Bailey silks, that are more familiar at the winter game, Young Lochinvar ran with promise on his seasonal reappearance over this course and distance last month (good to firm ground then) and on this much slower surface he was able to account for Fast Lightning by two and a half lengths. The five-year-old gelded son of Pivotal won on similar going in his time with Dermot Weld.
Carr said: "He had a lot of back problems but they seem to be behind him now. He was bought to go hurdling. He is entered in an apprentice race in Leopardstown on Thursday night and I might let him take his chance there. He'll probably go to Galway."
The in-form Carr has now trained two winners in a row, Young Lochinvar adding to the gains of Caughtontheriver at Sligo last Sunday.
