Words Of Wisdom toughs it out

Thu 4th Aug 2011, 19:19

Course winner Words Of Wisdom justified favouritism when landing the one mile one furlong handicap at Leopardstown for Eddie Lynam and Johnny Murtagh.

The 3/1 shot was well-backed from a morning price of 9/2 and fended off the strong finishing Alpha And Omega (11/2) who made good use of the rail in the final furlong.

Eddie Lynam commented: “It’s nice to get it. He’s a funny old horse as you do nothing with him at home as he is very weak.

“Johnny said he looked around him when he hit the front but he did it well.

“This has been a lucky track for us this year.”

The winning distance was half a length for the three-year-old who had won an apprentice handicap over one mile at Leopardstown in June. Boulay came home a further half length in third at 12/1.
