After finishing second on her last two starts at Dundalk, Wingingit got a deserved win to her name in the Wesco Electrical Forty-Fifth Anniversary Handicap.

The Noel Meade trained daughter of Helmet was as short as 5/1 in early shows, but touched 10/1 on-course, before going off a 9/1 chance.

Settled in rear by Shane Foley (third winner over the weekend), the chestnut victor was ridden with three furlongs to race. She only really got going from the two pole, and hit the front inside the final furlong, going on to score by three parts of a length. Pandagreen finished second under Wayne Lordan for Gavin Cromwell at 8/1, while Apparition (10's to 8's) was another half a length back in third, with Donnacha O'Brien in the saddle for his father Aidan. Room To Roam was sent off the 4/1 favourite, and he finished fifth under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons.

Noel Meade said afterwards: "I'm delighted because Connacht captain John Muldoon owns a little piece of her, and he is on a stag weekend.

"He was telling me that his wife to be went to a fortune teller and she told her that the horse would win next time out!

"She's been learning how to race. It was the same today because she got a little bit buzzy at home and I didn't do an awful lot of fast work as I was trying to calm her down a bit.

"Shane said it took her a while to get into gear. We're thrilled she won and hopefully she'll go and win again somewhere. I think the fast the ground the better she'll be and she looked like she'd stay further there.

"I'd say Galway is quite a possibility. Obviously John is from the west and so is his father."
