Emily Moon who is from the family of Best Mate, put in an impressive display on her debut to take the last at Cork this evening, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Mares) INH Flat Race.
Second in the early stages, the Jessica Harrington trained four-year-old took over in front with just under a circuit to race.
Despite racing keenly she kept up the gallop in front, and stretched clear inside the final two furlongs, going on to score by six lengths in the pink and white colours of the Myerscough family. The Caddy Rose who was backed from 9/2 into 7/2 favouritism on-course, finished second under Mark O'Hare for Noel Meade, while Roney (7/1) was a nose back in third under Barry O'Neill for Paul Nolan.
Kate Harrington was aboard the winner who was returned at 4/1, and she said afterwards: "She is a lovely filly and is bred in the purple. I had to let her go on because from her work at home all she does is keep galloping.
"She was having a run here before having a break as we thought she was a bit weak and I'd say she'll come back for the Listed race in Gowran later in the year."
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Roney trained by Paul Nolan was found to have pulled a right hind shoe in running.
Miss S. Ahern, rider of Final Witness trained by John F.Robinson, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount clipped a heel and unseated her.
