The Aidan O’Brien trained regally bred Hibiscus gained a valuable maiden win at the Curragh today, landing the Irish Blue Cross (Fillies) Maiden under jockey Seamie Heffernan.
A daughter of top stallion Galileo and out of disqualified 2010 1,000 Guneas first-past-the-post mare Jacqueline Quest, Hibiscus had finished second twice and third twice on her four previous starts and today scored a length and a half win over Green Or Black
O’Brien wasn’t present but following the race Heffernan stated “she got bogged down on the heavy ground (at Listowel) last week but came out of the race well. She came home well, and hopefully she can get black type now.”
