Weld lands treble as Catch scores for McCreevy
Catch The Eye rounded off yet another memorable night at Galway for Dermot Weld when completing a treble for the King Of Ballybrit in the concluding maiden.
Pat Smullen, also partnerning his third winner, sent the 8/15 favourite for home rounding the bend.
The daughter of Oratorio got to the front inside the final furlong and powered clear for a five-and-a-half length victory over Diamond Daze
The filly is owned by Noeleen McCreevy, wife of former Minister For Finance Charlie McCreevy, and the pair were on hand to welcome back their winner.
"The winner was bred by the owner so it's nice for her," said Weld.
"She had the form having run two very good races and did it nicely today. That's my first winner for the owner.
"She might go for a winners' of one or a handicap and we'll look at getting her black-type later in the year."
