The epidemic of recent beaten odds-on shots in Ireland is developing into a pandemic for punters with Tammy Hill (4/6f) the ninth beaten odds-on 'jolly' this week, behind winner Warne in the John McCarthy Memorial Hunters Chase at Fairyhouse today. Tammys Hill narrowly beaten by Foxhunters winner Salsify a fortnight ago, jumped to his left throughout the 2m5f trip and in the end victory went to the Brian Hamilton trained Warne, under Mikey Fogarty.

Hamilton wasn't present for the win but Fogarty, who recently returned from a long injured enforced layoff, stated “he (Warne) is such a bunny rabbit! He loved dropping back in trip today and I was trying to take him back all the time but he just kept making lengths everywhere and kept getting there.

“He travelled like the winner at Leopardstown but just didn't get home on the ground - he is a class horse when he is on song”

James Smyth, regular rider of Tammys Hill but suspended today (the gelding was ridden by Mark O'Hare) later said “he just didn't travel on the ground but is still on track for Cheltenham.”
