After finishing second at Ballinrobe on Tuesday Supreme Vic (4/1) went on place better this evening as she took the At The Races Handicap Hurdle under Shane Shortall for Norman Lee.

The eight-year-old daughter of Old Vic went down by just a neck at the Co Mayo venue and turned out again quickly she raced in second.

She hit the front and went on before the third last and kept on well up the home straight to score easily by four and a half lengths. The Fitz Lady finished second under her trainer Eoin McCarthy at 12/1 while Res Ipsa Loquitor (5/1), who won at Ballinrobe on Monday, was a further five lengths back in third under Andrew Ring for Johnny Levins. Benefitthewest (12/1) completed the placings a further fourth and three parts of a length back in third under Jody McGarvey for Paul Flynn while the 9/4 favourite (backed from 11/4) Island Villa could only manage a disappointing sixth under her trainer Denis Hogan.

Norman Lee said afterwards: "She was bucking out of her skin this morning, she was in savage form and we said she would earn nothing at home.

"She is improving all the time and she is a grand mare. She will go to Galway if she is well for the mares handicap hurdle on the Wednesday. It’ll be five runs in three weeks but if she is well she will go there.

"Shane gave her a super spin and we said we’d take the bull by the horns by making racing prominently and you wont get a better seven pound claimer than him.

"Paul Mullins is his very loyal owner and he is from Tuam."

D.N. Russell, rider of Knox's Bridge trained by Kieran Purcell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having emptied quickly.

D.G. Hogan, rider of Island Villa, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran flat possibly as a result of running too soon having raced at Ballinrobe 3 days ago.

P. Townend, rider of Itsonthelist trained by V. T. O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having never travelled throughout.
