Uncle Tom turns over Cadspeed

Sun 2nd Jan 2011, 13:23

Odds-on punters were out of luck in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Chase at Naas today when 8/15 ‘jolly’ Cadspeed could only manage third behind winner Uncle Tom Cobley

Uncle Tom Cobley made virtually all, and although he was strongly pressed by runner-up Prince Erik from two out, battled well on the run-in for a comfortable win.

Afterwards winning trainer Conor O’Dwyer stated “I’m very happy with him and I decided to run him here because I was finding it hard to find a beginners’ chase with him. He disappointed a bit last year but my horses weren’t right for most of last season.

O'Dwyer added "he jumped super today, likes soft ground and a good galloping track. We’ll aim him at a winners’ of one race next and see how he gets on.”
