Bargain buy Everyhouronthehour gained a second career win for one-horse trainer William Ross at Dundalk today as the gelding landed division one of the Fundraise At Dundalk Stadium Handicap under jockey Tom Madden.
Bought for E3,500 as a yearling, the gelding was the second son of Dragon Pulse to win on the evening, following Jon Ess half-house earlier success, and following the race Ross stated “he’s a smashing horse and we’re delighted with him. He’s a lad we bought cheap as a yearling and I thought I’d breeze him but that didn’t work out.
“He’s actually grown over Christmas and surprised me a bit because it’s five weeks since his last run and I thought he might want it tonight. He’s getting the hang of the game now and is going the right way.
“I thought if he was beaten tonight and stayed on that we might go over a mile and two but there might not be any need yet. He will stay further as all the dam side were a mile and two and a mile and a half.
“He could be a lovely horse for the summer.
“He’s the only horse I have and I ride him out myself every morning on his own. I’ll hold onto him and I’m also starting a new job on Monday. I’m going to sell cattle feed for United Feeds from Belfast.”
