After running well on her first two starts, Swift Action made it third time lucky in the Glenvale Stud 3yo Maiden, scoring under Declan McDonogh (got a 1 day careless riding ban) for John Oxx.
The bay daughter of Invincible Spirit finished fifth on her debut at the Curragh in June, before finishing third on her next start at Naas when sent off the 4/5 favourite.
Dropped in trip by a furlong to the minimum distance, she was sent off a 7/2 chance. She hit the front just over a furlong from home, soon drifting onto the rail impeding South Ring keeping on well in the closing stages to score by a length three parts.
A Stewards Enquiry was called shortly after they passed the post, however the result was left unchanged.
South Ring had to make do with second at 9/1 under Seamie Heffernan for Willie McCreery, while Cottrell was two and a half lengths back in third under Sam James for Kevin Prendergast at 5/1.
After finishing third on her first three starts, Acting Talent was sent off the 9/4 favourite for Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen, but she could only manage a disappointing eighth. Barbados Bob was well-supported on-course, going from 5/1 to 7/2, but he never looked like winning, finishing sixth under Fergal Lynch for Eddie Lynam.
John Oxx said afterwards: "It was nicer ground than at Naas the last day. It was quite firm there. There is also quite a few ridges at Naas while it’s a lovely level surface here.
"It’s grand that she has won her maiden and we will see now about a handicap.
"She has probably come on a bit as well."
There was a sting in the tail for winning rider Declan McDonogh, as the Stewards gave him a one day suspension for careless riding.
