Tadhg upsets the Bull
The Bull Hayes was all the rage to open his jumping account in the Cahir Maiden Hurdle but those who supported him in to 4/6 favourite were in for a nasty shock as 25/1 shot Tadhg upset the odds.
Andrew McNamara 's mount swept past the jolly going to the final flight, and kept on well on the run-in to score by two lengths. Kicking King's full-brother Four Commanders could only keep on at one pace a further four lengths adrift in third.
The son of Brian Boru is the first horse owner Peter O'Connor has had in training with Edward O'Grady, although the Kilcock native previously enjoyed success as part of the syndicate which owned 1995 Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Tourist Attraction.
McNamara is now just one behind leader Paul Carberry in the jump jockeys championship after this 42nd victory of the campaign.
O'Grady said, “It shows the difference hurdles make as he easily reversed previous bumper placings with Under The Arch He ran too free in his bumper the last day but settled better today and jumped well. He'll go now for a winners hurdle.”
