Lottery winner Gerard Murphy has seen his good fortune carry over into racehorse ownership with Super Focus and the Tom Cleary-trained filly bids for a hat-trick at Dundalk this evening.
The Intense Focus filly opened her account for connections on the Polytrack last month and followed that up last Friday.
She won with quite a bit in hand stepping up to 10 furlongs then and aims to defy a 5lb penalty coming back to a mile now.
Rory Cleary takes the mount on his father's charge in the second division of the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap. Carrigeen Prince looks an obvious threat given his recent good form at the track. He won here in October and ran a fine race off his current mark of 62 when third to shock winner Paved With Gold on his visit here last month.
The Garvan Donnelly-trained gelding now enjoys a 6lb turnaround with the winner and may be able to reverse the placings.
Super Focus was a purchase out of Jim Bolger's yard and the Coolcullen handler looks to have a couple of leading chances on the card himself. Cresendo ran on well over six furlongs at the track on his last outing and stepping up a furlong now, he has to be a big player in the Dundalk Stadium - Light Up Your Night Handicap.
The three-year-old has slid down the weights and looks to have found a level that he can win at.
Stablemate Heavy Weight has had his problems but is a three-time winner at the track, including over the 10-furlong trip of the concluding Fundraising Made Easy At Dundalk Handicap.
He made an encouraging comeback at Naas in October and back on the all-weather off a mark of 64, 6lb lower than when winning here last year, he has to be given a big chance.
