Specific Gravity was all the rage for the opening claimer at Dundalk, in being punted from an opening show of 10/1 to 9/2, and the market proved spot on.
The eight-year-old gelding made all in this extended mile and two contest and put the opposition away in the final quarter of a mile.
He strode on in the final furlong for Declan McDonogh to win by two and a quarter lengths for trainer Ado McGuinness. Elusive In Paris was also strong in the market as he shortened from 10/3 to 9/4 favourite. He kept on well for second without threatening the winner.
There was an eight and a half length gap back to third-placed Spirit Of The Law (12/1).
Declan McDonogh said: "He moved well on the surface, handled the track well and the blinkers probably worked. It might change his mindset now."
Specific Gravity had been unplaced in his previous four attempts on Dundalk's polytrack. His last win came in a Newmarket handicap in August 2012.
Elusive In Paris was claimed by Gerard O'Leary for 9,000 euro.
