Good Heavens looked set to give J P McManus and Joseph O'Brien a treble when narrowly heading Shark Bay (6/1) inside the final furlong of the featured median auction 'winners of one' but the latter was not to be denied.
Shark Bay, who had been prominent throughout and led early in the straight, really knuckled down to his task under Wayne Lordan and rallied to thwart his 9lb higher-rated rival by a neck.
A second winner on the night for Australia, Aidan O'Brien's colt was adding to a maiden victory at Cork in April.
Stable representative Chris Armstrong said: "He is a consistent performer who ran well in the north in a Listed race the last day and today's race looked a nice race on paper and it fitted in well.
"Wayne gave him a lovely ride, he stays very well and there is no reason he can't step back up into stakes company. He is very genuine, has a good attitude and is a typical Australia who keeps finding."
