Fozzy Stack's initiative in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes was rewarded with a 50/1 victory in the shape of Shandy

Both of Stack's runners - You Send Me and Shandy - aimed right out of the gates and raced down the stands' side away from the main pack. Over The Blues led the field on the far side with You Send Me in front of Shandy on the stands' side.

It was Over The Blues who tried to kick on running to the final furlong, but Firebird the 15/8 favourite, angled out and came through to lead the main pack in the final furlong.

She wasn't home, though, as Shandy powered home down the stands' side for Andrew Slattery and pipped her by a head with the pair track-width apart.

British-raider Pandora's Gift (20/1) was two and a half lengths off the battle for first place.

Shandy's sole other success came in a maiden at Cork in March.

Stack said: “She ran well in the Listed race here the last day (in sixth) and won the race on her side.

“We were drawn 11 and 12 and the middle is the worse place to be, so we took a chance and it worked out.

“The ease in the ground helped as she needs an ease in the ground.

“We tried different things with hoods as she over-raced once or twice and it all came together today.”
