Set holds on in opening nursery
One Set held on doggedly in the closing stages after making all the running in the opening nursery at Dundalk tonight.
Emmet McNamara got a good response from his mount as Iron Major threw down a strong challenge in the final furlong, prevailing by a head at the line.
"He deserves that. He missed tha break the last day and that's why he was beat nine-and-a-half lengths," said Shane Lyons, brother of the winning trainer Ger.
"I thought he had reared up leaving the stalls but he was just slowly away. The real way to ride him is like a motorbike out in front and fair play to Emmet.
"He's been racing all summer and it's nice to sign off on a winner. He's in next week and we'll see what the boss wants to do but it's just nice to get the win for the owners."
