Saturnas stayed on stoutly in the closing stages to land the odds in Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse.

Willie Mullins' charge went to post the 8/11 favourite but had to dig deep after De Plotting Shed got away quicker from the second last.

Paul Townend got a good tune form his mount to claim that rival over the final fence and he galloped on well in the closing stages for a length-and-a-quarter success.

The winner, who scored at Grade One level last season over hurdles, had chased home Avenir D'Une Vie on his chasing debut at Punchestown last month.

“He’ll probably go up in trip next time looking at that. His jumping was adequate, and we’ll find a novice for him over further,” said Mullins.
