Ross O'Sullivan recorded a quick double at Cork this afternoon when Samrogue ran out a convincing winner of the six furlong handicap on the card.
23 went to post and the field was well spread across the track in the early stages. Florence Thompson was to the fore throughout and had a definite lead a furlong-and-a-half from home.
She couldn't hold the powerful surge of Samrogue in the final furlong though as Conor Hoban's mount came to lead. The 8/1 winner was nicely on top at the line, scoring by three-lengths.
The winning trainer was recording his first ever brace and said afterwards:-
"she won twice in Dundalk but hasn't transferred that form to the turf.
“The last day she ran well, Conor was happy with her and today we tried a few different things. Six furlongs on a flat track suited her and we were lucky as she wants good or quick ground.
"She had come down to a mark she had won off before and that's three races she has won. She is owned by brilliant owners Brendan Cooney and his daughter Yvonne Lavin."
