Saltonstall finished with a real flourish to cut down his rivals in the mile handicap at Leopardstown.
Adam Caffrey 's partner made his move racing to the final furlong and stormed into contention in the final furlong. He worked his way to the front in the closing stages and kept on well to post a victory by three parts of a length at 6/1.
This was his ninth career success on his 56th start. Soilse finished second at 20/1 and was a neck in front of Excuzio Joe (10/1).
“I don't know what to say about this fella, he's just a legend,” said Ado McGuinness.
“The young fella was very good on him today, he was stone last when he jumped. They went a good gallop and it suited him.
“He just grows another leg on this ground. He's just a brilliant horse to have, he's so popular and he never runs a bad race.
“I'm going to Newmarket this week, but I don't know what money I'd need to find a horse like him.
“It's great for the lads, we'll rock on again next year and probably go back for a Lincoln and do the same thing again.
“He still has his old spark, especially on soft ground.
“Adam is a good kid and he doesn't panic, that's for sure. He's good value for the 7lb and I probably won't have it for that long."
