Roly Poly edged a terrific duel with Seafront to land the spoils in the Group 3 Grangecon Stud Stakes at the Curragh. Ellery Lane cut out the running in the six furlong contest but was tackled passing the two pole by a trio of runners.
Seafront soon fought it out with Roly Poly and Magical Fire on their outer. The later gave way inside the final furlong while Roly Poly edged ahead close home to secure a neck success. Elusive Beauty ran on to finish three-parts-of-a-length back in third.
It was a double on the card for Ryan Moore and Aidan O'Brien with the well-bred daughter of War Front and Irish Guineas winner Misty For Me returning the 3/1 favourite.
The winner had made little impression when eighth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot last time and was stepping up to six furlongs for the first time today.
"The little bit of extra distance may have suited her. It's not that long after Ascot but she's a hardy filly. It was a tough performance and you would have to be happy,” said O'Brien.
"She's a very important filly as a Group winner with her pedigree. She could go for the Debutante if we want to try her over seven furlongs."
