Eventual fourth Polymnia was there to be shot at from the two pole in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay 2018 Handicap, with top-weight Prove The Point coming home best to land Dundalk's fifth event.
Gary Carroll did the steering on Mick Mulvany's Arakan mare, and she was winning her third race overall here.
A 20/1 shot on this occasion, Prove The Point had half a length and a neck to spare over Mostawfee and Military Hill (troubled passage) at the finish.
The aforementioned Polymnia was a head off those three.
Mulvany stated afterwards: "It was her first time dropping back into that class and the handicapper gave her a chance..
"She seemed to be in good form and she runs well fresh. She won last year first time out as well.
"There are no plans really and he was thinking about breeding with her.
"The way the races are here you have to nearly take them when they are there because they might not be there the next time.
"She's an honest little filly and wins a race or two every year. That's her third win and she's been placed an awful lot of times. I know we've run her plenty but she doesn't do an awful lot in between."
W.M. Lordan, rider of Indian Tomahawk (GB) trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount finished lame.
R.P. Downey, rider of Military Hill trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung and was bumped around in the final furlong.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Indian Tomahawk (GB), trained by Richard John O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on his right fore post race. .
