Potters Point made all for Kevin Sexton to see off Black Zambezi by three parts of a length in the GalwayRaces.com Maiden Hurdle.
The six-year-old gelding appeared for the first time in 245 days and went off favourite for the sixth time in a row (one previous victory in a bumper at Punchestown in may last year.
Kevin Sexton did the steering and had enough in the tank to grind out the victory after the last from the staying-on Black Zambezi.
This gave trainer Gordon Elliott an across-the-card double as Bull Ride scored in Wexford at 12/1 today.
Gordon Elliott said: "He made a mistake at the wrong time and it wasn't the strongest race in the world but it was grand to win with him.
"All his form is good but his wind isn't great and it is a big worry. I don't know if he'll go on real heavy ground during the winter but he has won a race now and chasing is his game.
"It's grand for Kevin (Sexton) to ride a winner too."
The Gigginstown-owned Potters Point was formerly trained by Willie Mullins.
