Joseph O'Brien wasn't taking no for an answer from Copper Dock (10/1 this morning into 6/1) in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap and he got the eight-year-old home by a short head. Rigid Rock was the one that was so narrowly denied and the well-backed Ability N Delivery (10/1 this morning into 9/2) finished just three parts of a length back in third.
Copper Dock, now an eight-year-old gaining his seventh career win and his fifth at the track, is trained by Tom McCourt and he said: "He got too far behind the last day and we planned to make more use of him as he doesn't have the pace he used to have.
"He'll come back here for a six furlong race in a few weeks. We'll probably give him a break then."
The Stewards interviewed, C.P. Hoban rider of Thats A Fret unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that C.P. Hoban was in breach of R10(2)(a) by using his whip in the forehand position. Having taken into consideration his previous record the Stewards suspended C.P. Hoban for 1 raceday
