O'Brien fills 1-2 in Give Thanks Stakes

Mon 3rd Aug 2009, 16:31

Aidan O'Brien's Tamarind came to the aid of bookmakers at Cork today when causing a 20/1 upset, under Colm O'Donoghue, to win the Group 3 Ladbrokes Give Thanks Stakes.

Previously successful at long odds-on at Tipperary, the daughter of Sadler's Wells tracked the leaders in today's race, before moving through to lead under two furlongs out, eventually recording a length and a half win.

The race was a benefit for trainer O'Brien, whose Perfect Truth filled the runner-up spot.
