Nusret gained a deserved victory when claiming the mile-and-a-half maiden at the Curragh, giving Joseph O'Brien a double on the card.

The Golden Horn colt had been placed on his previous four outings, including a couple of narrow defeats.

Mikey Sheehy gave his mount a confident ride this afternoon as he cruised up to challenge over a furlong from home.

The 9/4 shot was asked to pick up inside the final furlong and went on in the closing stages to post a length-and-three-quarters victory over 8/11 favourite Over The Rainbow

“He had been running consistently well and we've been learning about him,” said O'Brien.

“The race set up lovely for him and Mikey gave him a lovely confident ride.

“We could look at one of those nice handicaps on Champions Weekend. There is a mile-and-five race in Leopardstown but he might be better in a handicap off his rating.”

The winner is owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede and O'Brien confirmed he could go hurdling at some stage:-

“There is a good chance he probably will. He has plenty of size and could be a nice horse for that job as well.”

O'Brien had also claimed the opening two-year-old maiden with Vernet
