From a Moyglare family that includes the brilliant racemare, Dance Design, Simple Love (14/1) made a most pleasing start to her racing life when taking the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden at Fairyhouse.
A daughter of Proud Citizen (stands in the States for 15,000 dollars) Simple Love caught the front-running Pillow inside the last before going on to score by a length and a quarter.
Third home, Harlem Shake had to switch under a furlong out and eventually came home a neck adrift in third.
The J P McManus-owned, David Wachman-trained and Fran Berry partnered Hidden Oasis (around 6/1 this morning into 11/10) was already niggled along when having to come a little wide in the straight.
She never really looked like getting on terms with the principals and eventually finished fourth, beaten a further length and a half.
Winning trainer Dermot Weld reported: "She's a lovely filly. She's put a few nice pieces of work together and she worked on grass the other morning for the first time.
"She's idle and laidback and when he asked her she answered the call.
"We'll see if we can get a bit of black-type for her now – that's the next challenge.
"Pat said the ground is beautiful out there." (AM & EM)
