John Queally's Uncle Danny looked a promising horse in his younger days and he could have more good days ahead judging by his 33/1 success under Danny Mullins in the McCarthy Insurance Group Beginners Chase at Cork.
The winner of a Lismore point-to-point, Punchestown bumper and Listowel maiden hurdle, Uncle Danny was actually clipped in from 66/1 on this occasion, and he just wouldn't relent up the straight as the fancied trio, General Principle Blazer and Jett pursued.
General Principle got closest, but that was five lengths off, whilst there were seven lengths and a short head back to Blazer and Jett in third and fourth.
Forty one lengths was the yawning break back to Misty Lady in fifth.
"He had a heavy fall earlier in the season and it took him a long while to get his confidence back - there was certainly nothing wrong with his confidence today," commented Queally.
"He'll go for a handicap next as he wouldn't be good enough for those good novices."
G.N. Fox, rider of Hurry Henry trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.
