The Pat Neville trained Rightville Boy ran out a comfortable winner of the Liam Hogan Memorial Handicap Chase.

Successful at Thurles in November, the eight-year-old son of Cloudings disappointed on his next three starts.

Sent off at 6/1 today (8's last night and from 7's on-course) he was settled behind the leaders by Andrew Lynch.

He improved to dispute the lead after six out and led on the approach to the straight, keeping on well from there to score easily by seven lengths. Malt Gem finished second at 10/1 under Phillip Enright for Mary Louise Hallahan, while the front-running Page Turner was twenty-seven lengths back in third. Pumbaa Paul Townend for Donal Commins, was sent off the 3/1 favourite and he disappointingly pulled up after four out.

Pat Neville said afterwards: "I was funny about the trip but the rain helped. He is tricky and has taken a while to get to know him. He runs very free but settled a lot better today and this is a lovely race to win as I knew Liam Hogan.

"I'll freshen him up and will go somewhere else with him."

STEWARDS REPORTS

P. Townend, rider of Pumbaa trained by Donal Commins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran too free.

P.T. Enright, rider of Malt Gem trained by Miss Mary Louise Hallahan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount finished lame.
