Young Ted (3s into 13/8 favourite) and Fils Spirituel (15/8) failed to make the frame as early market-mover Mr Hendricks (18/1) took the Watch RacingTV With Free Trial Now Maiden Hurdle at Navan.

The victorious Milan gelding won a point-to-point for winning trainer Jessica Harrington’s daughter, Kate, at Kirkistown last March.

He made most on that occasion and it was something similar from the six-year-old this time in the hands of Paddy Kennedy.

Kennedy won during the week on Mrs Harington’s Instant Return at Punchestown, and here the Kerry man crossed the line in front a length and a half to the good. Village Mystic finished second for Noel Meade and Sean Flanagan whilst three and a half lengths back in third was Last Minute Man

Aforementioned market-leader, Meade’s Young Ted was fourth, and Fils Spirituel made mistakes at the final two and ended up in fifth.

"He won a point to point last year and he is a very big horse who I have given all the time he can get. He'll be better over three miles and is really only a baby for what he is," said Mrs Harrington.

"He was bought as a three mile chaser and I'm delighted as his owner (David Scott) sadly is in hospital. He also has Neverrushacon and Got Trumped with me and this will give him a lift.

"I'll look for any three mile hurdle with this horse next. I don't know how good he is but he'll stay going."

At the request of the Stewards, C.D. Timmons, rider of Dont Go Yet trained by Edward Cawley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was excited at the start, took a keen hold early in the race before settling towards the rear of the field, leaned to the right most of the race, took a blow at the top of the hill, made mistakes at the last two hurdles and stayed on one paced.
